Sarah Woo, a bankruptcy and financial regulation expert, has joined the NYU School of Law faculty as an assistant professor of law, with a courtesy appointment at the Stern School of Business. She will teach international financial regulation and international insolvency.
Woo earned her LL.B. at National University of Singapore, where she graduated as the valedictorian with First Class Honors, and holds J.S.D and J.S.M. degrees from Stanford Law School. During her time in Stanford, Woo served as a research fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.
Woo’s last role in practice was at Moody's KMV in New York and London, where she managed a research initiative on loss severity. Additionally, she advised financial institutions, as a Certified Financial Risk Manager, on credit risk management and Basel II initiatives. Her experience also includes stints as an attorney at Baker & McKenzie in Singapore and at White & Case in San Francisco, where she specialized in transactional and bankruptcy work. She then worked as an equity research analyst focusing on energy markets and utilities for Morgan Stanley's global institutional equities team.
Woo’s scholarly interests include bankruptcy, bank regulation, financial risk architecture and methodologies, corporate finance, international comparative law, and energy law.
