Several alumni receive pro bono advocacy honor from Sanctuary for Families

On November 15, nine NYU Law alumni were honored by the Sanctuary for Families’ Center for Battered Women’s Legal Services for their pro bono work providing representation and advocacy to domestic violence victims. The alumni were named 2010 “Above and Beyond Honorees for Excellence in Pro Bono Advocacy" at the Santuary for Families' annual benefit.

Among the honorees: Kimberly Spoerri '08, an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton; Melissa Aoyagi '03, an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell; Dara Sheinfeld '02, a former associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell; Tyler Amass '07, an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Kristen Hendricks '06, an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Kristen Mathews '08, an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher; Henry Ko '98, an associate at Kirkland & Ellis; Alyssa Watzman '07, an associate at  Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; Laura Greenberg '07, an associate at Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

Led by Executive Director Laurel Eisner '84, Sanctuary for Families is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving domestic violence victims, sex trafficking victims, and their children. Dorchen Leidholdt '88 directs the organization's Center for Battered Women's Legal Services.
