Franck nominated as honorary president of the American Society of International Law

Thomas Franck, Murry and Ida Becker Professor of Law Emeritus, has been nominated to the position of honorary president of the American Society of International Law (ASIL), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting international relations and the study of international law. Franck, who served previously as ASIL's president and editor-in-chief of its American Journal of International Law, directed NYU Law's Center for International Studies for almost four decades and twice won a Guggenheim Fellowship. ASIL's outgoing honorary president is Thomas Buergenthal '60, a judge on the International Court of Justice.
