Paul Francis '80 named New York's new director of agency redesign and efficiency

New York Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo has named Paul Francis '80 to serve in the new position of director of agency redesign and efficiency. Francis, who formerly worked as director of state operations and budget director for Governor Eliot Spitzer, will leave the financial products division of Bloomberg LP, where he has been chief operating officer since September 2008. Francis was an advisor on budget and policy issues for Cuomo’s successful 2010 gubernatorial campaign.

Said Cuomo in a statement: “Paul knows as much about how the private sector works as he does about how government works and this is exactly the type of experience and perspective we need in order to take on the critical task of reorganizing and rightsizing state government for the first time since the 1920s.”
