Marisa Demeo '93 to be nominated as D.C. Superior Court associate judge

On March 24, President Barack Obama announced his intention to nominate Marisa Demeo ’93 to be an associate judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Demeo currently serves as a magistrate judge in the Superior Court’s criminal division.

A Root-Tilden-Kern Scholar at NYU Law, Demeo has long displayed a commitment to public interest, working for such organizations as the AIDS Service of Lower Manhattan, the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, and Texas Rural Legal Aid. Following further work at the Department of Justice and the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, Demeo was an assistant U.S. attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Demeo was appointed to the Superior Court in 2007 and has taught classes as an adjunct professor at Howard University School of Law.
