Lauren Burke '09, a Skadden fellow, searches for love in New York City one lock at a time

Photo of Lauren Burke '09Skadden Fellow Lauren Burke '09 has a key to the city. Thanks to a new public-art project, Burke and other urban explorers are tramping about with a special key that unlocks boxes at 24 locations in New York City. Brooklyn artist Paul Ramírez Jonas created the project, which was commissioned by Creative Time and is run in cooperation with the City of New York.

As profiled in the New York Times, Burke has added a twist to her trips: she’s turned each into a date, and is chronicling the journey in a blog, “Key 2 The City, Key 2 My Heart: Searching for Love One Lock at a Time.”

Burke was selected as a Skadden Fellow after graduating in 2009, and works at The Door in New York City helping young Chinese immigrants who have been or are at risk for being trafficked.
