Alvarez moderates panel on the use of foreign law in American cases

On March 6, C-SPAN aired a panel discussion moderated by Herbert and Rose Rubin Professor of International Law José Alvarez called “The Use of Foreign Law in Domestic Courts.” Three distinguished judges, including Judith Kaye '62, former chief judge of the New York Court of Appeals, debated the question of whether foreign law should be considered in American cases. Kaye was joined by Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia Robert French and Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit Dennis Jacobs.

The program was sponsored by the Committee on Foreign & Comparative Law and hosted by the New York City Bar Association on January 20.
