Conversation on Urban Crime with the Honorable Cory A. Booker, Mayor of the City of Newark, New Jersey

On October 25, 2010, the Center hosted its first "Conversation on Urban Crime."  Cory A. Booker, the Mayor of the City of Newark, New Jersey, was the featured speaker. Mayor Booker spoke and answered questions about urban crime policy. 

Mayor Booker has been Mayor of Newark since July 2006 and was reelected to a second term in May 2010. Under the leadership of Mayor Booker and his Administration, in March 2010, the City of Newark experienced its first homicide-free month in more than forty years and was recognized in July 2008 for leading the nation among large cities for reductions in shootings and murders, achieving decreases of more than 40% in both categories. Mayor Booker has transformed the Newark Police Department and deployed over 100 surveillance cameras throughout the City as part of his crime-reduction effort.
