JUNE 12, 2020
Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro secured penalties against Range Resources Corp., a Texas-based shale gas drilling company, in response to the company’s mishandling of contamination at two well sites in southwestern Pennsylvania. The company pleaded no contest to seven misdemeanor charges, and will pay $50,000 in fines and make $100,000 in contributions to two watershed groups. The plea came as part of a two-year grand jury investigation into violations of environmental regulations by oil and gas companies operating in Pennsylvania.
