Michigan AG Successfully Advocated for Lower Electric Utility Rate Increase

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel successfully advocated before the Michigan Public Service Commission for a reduced rate increase for Indiana Michigan Power Co., which serves roughly 129,000 retail electric customers in southwestern Michigan. Indiana Michigan Power Co. initially requested a rate increase of $58.5 million; AG Nessel successfully advocated for a $22.1 million reduction to the company’s request, reducing the increase in an average residential customer’s electric bill from approximately 25% to 15%.
