Joe is a third-year JD candidate at NYU Law. Prior to law school he graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Philosophy and worked briefly in private equity. During his 1L summer, he worked with Palantir Technologies’s legal team on a range of IP, data protection, and commercial matters. He spent his 2L summer at Gunderson Dettmer in New York, advising startup and venture capital fund clients on IP and privacy matters. He will return to Gunderson Dettmer after graduating. Joe is particularly interested in legal mechanisms that support innovation by safeguarding a robust public domain (namely fair use and first sale in Copyright, secondary Copyright infringement liability regimes, and Trademark abandonment), and exploring how the law can promote privacy rights without erecting prohibitive barriers to entry for small and medium enterprises.
