Amba Kek recently joined the AI Now Institute at NYU as Director of Global Strategy & Programs. She works at the intersection of law and technology and is a former Google policy fellow, Mozilla Tech Policy fellow, and a Rhodes Scholar. Before joining AI Now, Amba was Public Policy Advisor at Mozilla where she was responsible for developing and advocating the organization’s position on internet policy issues in Indian and international fora. She has previous experience as a legal consultant at the National Institute of Public Finance & Policy, providing advisory to Indian regulators and government departments on telecom and internet policy. As part of her Google policy fellowship, Amba conducted extensive research into the copyright licensing regime for online music streaming services globally. Trained as a lawyer, Amba holds graduate degrees in law from the University of Oxford and an MSc in Social Science of the Internet from the Oxford Internet Institute.
