Engelberg Center Code of Conduct

The Engelberg Center is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone participating in Engelberg Center spaces (in-person or virtual), regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment within the Engelberg Center community or at Engelberg Center events. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from Engelberg Center spaces at the discretion of the Engelberg Center.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments or actions related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior in Engelberg Center spaces, Engelberg Center staff may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the space.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Engelberg Center or event staff immediately.
Engelberg Center will be happy to help participants contact venue security or local law enforcement, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your participation in Engelberg Center spaces.

To report harassing behavior in any Engelberg Center space, email the Engelberg Center at engelberg.center@nyu.edu or the Executive Director of the Engelberg Center at mweinberg@nyu.edu.

We expect participants to follow these rules in all Engelberg Center spaces including in-person events, virtual events, email lists, and sponsored social events.
