Computer Labs
There are over 200 student PC stations and approximately 50 laptop roaming Internet connections located throughout New York University School of Law. These sites are located in the Vanderbilt Hall Law Library, the main computer lab, the Golding lounge and the journal and clinic areas, as well as Mercer and D'Agostino Residential Halls.
Our computer labs consist of PCs, along with laser printers. High-speed connections to Internet resources can be made from the labs. All lab computers contain the current version of virus protection software for users to scan diskettes for viruses.
Computer labs are intended for school related assignments and research only.
The standard software applications installed on the lab computers are as follows:
|
• Windows 2000 |
• Netscape and Internet Explorer • Lexis/Nexis • Westlaw • Acrobat Reader |
The ITS Department is committed to ensuring that the computer labs are equipped with the most up-to-date systems. As such upgrades of machines and the installation of current versions of software occur periodically. Please, remember to bring diskettes, zip disks, or a USB key to save any documents or files created on a lab computer. Personal diskettes may become defective, so we recommend that users make backup copies of their files.
Any problems with a diskette, please see the lab assistant to help run a disk utility program on the diskette. The ITS department is not responsible for saving or retaining files saved on lab computers. Periodically the ITS department will remove all user created files for maintenance.
Lost and Found
In the main computer lab there is a lost and found bin for diskettes. If you find a diskette at any PC throughout the Law School, please bring it to the lost and found bin.
