On The Road

New York University School of Law ITS makes it easy for you to stay connected while you are away from your desk.  Whether you are traveling for a conference or on vacation, all that is needed is an Internet connection to access your emails, documents, and any other NYU resources you may need.

Outlook Web Access (OWA)
As long as you have an internet connection, you can use OWA from any computer to access your mailbox items, including emails, calendars, and contacts.  Click here for more information about OWA. If you have a Smartphone that can access the web, please visit the PDA Phones section for more information.

Remote Access to Network Drives
The Novell client can be installed on a Windows computer to provide access to the Law School’s file servers.  With access to personal and shared network drives, users can save documents from their office computers and access them from home or other locations without incurring versioning issues, or shuttling documents between locations.

If you find yourself at a computer without the Novell client and need to access a document on the network, web access to personal and shared network drives is also available. To connect to network drives via the web:

• Open a web browser and navigate to http://law4.law.nyu.edu/oneNet/NetStorage
• You will be prompted for your username and password and then once authenticated, you will be able to navigate your network folders. You may be prompted that the security certificate is out of date; please ignore the warning and continue to the site.
IMPORTANT: Web Access provides download-only access to files. You will not be able to save any changes back to network drives via web access.

VPN
Some programs require a direct connection to the NYU network. In these cases, a VPN client is used for that connection. Installing and configuring the Cisco VPN Client provides a secure connection to the NYU network.

To download, install, and configure the VPN client, please visit http://www.nyu.edu/its/software/vpn/wired/configure_windows.html.  Instructions on how to connect to the NYU network using the client can also be found on that page.

Some programs which require VPN access for off-campus use (this is not a complete list):

• SPSS
• SIS
• Website editing (Stellent Contributor)
