Discourses
Discourses is dedicated to establishing forums for the discussion of legal theory. Our annual speaker series invites scholars to present recently completed or in-progress papers and engage in discussion with students.
Recent speakers include Drucilla Comell, Richard Delgado, Martha Fineman, Lucinda Finley, Robert Gordon, Duncan Kennedy, Christine Littleton, and Murk Tushnet. Our speakers come from a range of theoretical backgrounds including critical race theory, law and economics, critical legal studies, and feminist theory.
We also sponsor a brown bag lunch series at which students can meet New York University School of Law faculty and hear short informal talks. In past years, students have participated in legal theory reading and discussion groups as well as student paper conferences.
