Amnesty International
The Amnesty International Group is part of the Campus Network of Amnesty International, a worldwide human rights organization that works on behalf of all people who are imprisoned or harassed because of their political beliefs, religion, race, ethnic background or language. We do not distinguish among governments of different political ideologies. Amnesty, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977.
Our campus group works on Urgent Action cases for prisoners or others who are in immediate danger of execution or torture, using letter-writing and other forms of publicity, to try to help these people. We occasionally, show, films and host speakers on human rights issues. Our group is also involved in a Court Watch Program observing deportation hearings here in New York.
