Guide for Student Groups
Student
Group General Info
This page contains information on how to reserve rooms, update
your group's web site, contact other student groups, and more. If
you have any suggestions for how to improve this site, or if you
find anything that is not up-to-date, please email law.sba@nyu.edu
with suggestions. Thank you!
Student Group Logistics
There are over 40 different student groups that make up our Student
Bar Association. Most groups have or share offices in the basement
of the Mercer Residence. Student Group Mailboxes can also be found
in the basement of Mercer. Each Student Group usually has a bulletin
board on their door also for posting announcements or leaving notes.
How to Reserve Meeting Space
All law school space for student events is controlled by the Special
Events Office, located in Vanderbilt Hall, Room 109. How one goes
about reserving space around campus is dependent upon what space
is needed. For example, to reserve Tishman Auditorium, Lipton or
Greenberg Halls it is necessary to go through the online Space
Booking System.
Once in the Space Booking System, you can request space for an
event. Be sure that you select that you are a student (do not select
"Law School/Law Organization"), and you will not be required
to enter an Account Number. Once your request is received, the people
in Special Events check to see if that space is available for the
date requested. If so, you will move on to the second phase of the
process which is to offer the details of your event (i.e., security,
layout, refreshments) so that the Special Events staff can set it
up. Please note that the Special Events office will go to great
lengths to help accommodate student group space requests, but they
cannot reserve classrooms until after add/drop period for each semester
ends and for all other requests, you should reserve space before
the Tuesday of the week prior to your event, if at all possible.
To reserve classroom space, Golding Lounge, or any part thereof,
it is necessary to contact someone from Special Events directly.
The Director of Special Events is Ken Kidd, but he is often difficult
to reach. Protocol dictates that you contact Zarah Guzman, either
in person (she's in Vanderbilt Hall, Room 109) or via email at:
zarah.guzman@nyu.edu.
When requesting spaces from Zarah, be sure to include the date,
time, size of crowd, space desired, and a phone number where you
can be reached.
If you are planning an event that is either very large or very
unconventional it also might be a good idea to run your plan by
Frank Conti, Director of Facilities Security. He can be reached
at: (212) 998-1113.

touch, and only those interested get the mail on a regular basis.
If you are interested in requesting a new List, you must fill out
an online form. If you have questions, you can write to: admin@forums.nyu.edu.
If you are a student, you will need an administrative or faculty
