January 25, 2007:
We entertained thirty students visiting from the International Law Society at Osgoode Hall Law School. The visit precedes the arrival of the first students participating in the NYU-Osgoode JD/LLB program in Fall 2007.

Policy Paper - Raising The Bar

We advocate for a reduction in the restrictions imposed on lawyers who were trained in the United States, but wish to practice in Canada. The curriculum at American law schools is remarkably similar to that of its Canadian counterparts. Law students learn broad legal reasoning and analysis, applicable both north and south of the border. Given Canada's commitment to encourage the immigration of skilled persons from around the world, we cannot understand our country's insistence on such strict regulation.

Raisingthebar.ca outlines our position in detail, and encourages community discussion about the detriments of restrictive regulations.
