2003 Symposium
Paths to Success: The Diversification of Voice and Style in Law School and the Legal Profession

Symposium Information

This year's Law Women's Symposium will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2003,
from 9:00 AM - 5:15 PM in Vanderbilt Hall, Greenberg Lounge.

Our symposium will focus on how women can foster and expand their voices (including opinions, mannerisms, tactics, approaches to reading and writing etc.) in law school and in the practice of law. We want to explore the pros and cons both of allowing differences in these areas, and of having people conform to the traditional way of learning/practicing.

In addition, we would like to ask what diversity of voice has added to the law school community and the world of law and what would be added (and/or lost) if policies were implemented to encourage these voices rather than trying to mainstream them. Our focus is on how the voices of women differ from their male counterparts. We think it is important and telling to focus on all women and variations among women when it comes to perspective. Therefore, we have tried to include many minority and non-traditional views on the topic.
