Know Your Rights Project
KYRP is an organization of students from NYU School of Law that conducts training on constitutional rights for New York City youth. KYRP aims specifically to provide historical background on the development of search and seizure law, as well as practical knowledge regarding how to remain safe during interactions with law enforcement We also offer an advanced training, which includes a more in depth analysis of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, a discussion of the recent Stop and Frisk litigation in New York, and other efforts to reform the criminal justice system.
Our standard introductory training runs for approximately 45 minutes, and the advanced training is one hour. We are happy to work with school administrators and teachers regarding specific needs in terms of the timing, content, and format of the training.
If you are interested in hosting a training at your school or would like more information about our program, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
