Letters from the Directors

Noël B. Cunningham
Director of the Graduate Tax Program

H. David Rosenbloom
Director of the International Tax Program

Before you peruse these pages, allow us to indulge in a bit of NYU School of Law lore, as we recognize a major milestone for the tax law community, the 60th Anniversary of the Graduate Tax Program. From its inception, NYU’s Graduate Tax Program has been the preeminent program in the country, and NYU Tax has been ranked #1 by U.S. News & World Report since 1992, the year the rankings began. Consequently, it is no wonder that over our rich history, we have produced and continue to produce the best and the brightest tax academics, practitioners, and government leaders, nationally and internationally. We have had 60 years to hone our craft.

Each year, students in the full-time and part-time Graduate Tax Program converge upon New York City from across the U.S. and abroad to study taxation. Students in the Graduate Tax Program may concentrate their studies in one of five areas of taxation: Business Tax, Estate Planning, International Tax, Tax Policy, or General Tax. Students from outside the U.S. may join the Graduate Tax Program, or if they are interested in a rigorous and challenging course of study in international tax, they may consider becoming part of the prestigious International Tax Program for Foreign Students.

Our tax faculty takes pride in learning from and with our students. As the #1 program in the nation, our perpetual challenge is to be innovative, flexible and responsive to our students’ needs as well as the needs of the marketplace. We are fortunate that our location in New York City gives us access to the nation’s leading tax practitioners, many of whom teach evening courses.

The Graduate Tax Program’s national and international alumni base of over 10,000 tax attorneys is passionate about the Program’s 60 year heritage. Many tell us that their time at NYU was the most important educational experience of their lives. We look forward to welcoming you into the NYU School of Law Graduate Tax Program community and advancing our stellar history even further.
