Adjunct Professor Pedro Martinez-Fraga appointed conciliator to ICSID

On December 16, 2015, President Barack Obama appointed Adjunct Professor Pedro Martinez-Fraga, a partner in the Miami office of Bryan Cave, to be a conciliator on the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes. The ICSID is a forum for international investment dispute settlement that was established by a 1966 convention. Martinez-Fraga, who practices commercial litigation and international arbitration, teaches the Oral Advocacy in International Arbitration and the Practical and Theoretical Anatomy of an International Commercial Arbitration seminars.

This announcement brings to three the number of NYU Law community members who have been appointed as arbitrators/conciliators to the ICSID:

  • Adjunct Professor Pedro Martinez-Fraga, partner at Bryan Cave, appointed by the United States
  • Adjunct Professor Brian King, partner at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, appointed by the Government of Saint Lucia
  • Professor Franco Ferrari, director of the Center for Transnational Litigation, Arbitration and Commercial Law,  appointed by the Government of Saint Lucia
