NYU Law faculty submit amicus briefs in Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association

Several NYU Law faculty have weighed in on Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association. The case concerns the constitutionality of compulsory union dues. The US Supreme Court granted petition in June 2015; the case will be argued this fall. A decision is expected in June 2016.

Marcel Kahan, George T. Lowy Professor of Law, and Helen Scott, Professor of Law and co-director of the Leadership Program on Law and Business, as corporate law professors, signed in support of the respondents.

Cynthia Estlund, Catherine A. Rein Professor of Law, and Samuel Estreicher, Dwight D. Opperman Professor of Law, director of the Center for Labor and Employment Law, and co-director of the Institute of Judicial Administration, as labor and employment law professors, signed in support of the respondents.
