David Katz '88 and Martin Lipton '55 named among the top mergers and acquisitions lawyers

The 2010 Who’s Who Legal survey has named David Katz '88 and Martin Lipton '55 to their list of the top mergers and aquisitions lawyers. Each year the survey honors lawyers in over 30 areas of practice, and names one lawyer and one firm as the best in each.

Katz, an adjunct professor at NYU Law, was named lawyer of the year in the mergers and acquisitions category for the second straight year. He is a partner in the law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz and senior fellow at the Pollack Center for Law & Business.

"Katz is universally recognised as truly outstanding," the Who's Who Legal editors wrote. "His expertise is matched only by 'dean of the takeover bar' Martin Lipton."

Lipton, a founding partner of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, was named one of the most highly regarded individuals in the mergers and acquisitions category. He is chairman of the Board of Trustees of New York University, a trustee of the NYU School of Law (chairman from 1988 to 1998), a member of the Council of the American Law Institute, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Dwight D. Opperman Institute of Judicial Administration.
