Jessica Rich ’87 named director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection

Jessica Rich '87Jessica Rich ’87 has been appointed as the new director of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. An expert in privacy, data and identity protection, and new technologies, Rich has been associate director in charge of the Division of Financial Practices since January 2012. Over the course of her career with the FTC, which she joined as a staff attorney more than 20 years ago, Rich has also held the positions of acting associate director and assistant director of the Bureau's Division of Privacy and Identity Protection, assistant director in the Division of Financial Practices, and counselor to the bureau director.

“I am very pleased to have such a strong leadership team at the FTC,” said FTC Chairwoman Edith Ramirez in a press release announcing Rich’s position, as well as six other new staff member appointments. “Their knowledge and experience will help keep the FTC at the forefront in promoting competition and protecting American consumers.”
