Luís Miguel Poiares Pessoa Maduro, the advocate general of the Court of Justice of the European Communities, presented the Fifth Annual Emile Noël Lecture on the State of the (European) Union. The November 19 lecture, sponsored by the Law School's Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law and Justice, took the form of a fireside chat between the advocate general and Joseph Weiler, the Joseph Straus Professor of Law at NYU.
