NYU Law's Center for Constitutional Transitions, led by Cecelia Goetz Professor of Law Sujit Choudhry, was recently named in a report from the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights on common challenges facing states in their efforts to secure democracy and the rule of law from a human rights perspective.
The center was cited in a section on international and regional cooperation for the promotion of democracy and the rule of law: "Promoting and advancing democracy has also been a priority for a large number of civil society organizations around the world. These include the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, the International Center for Transitional Justice, the Centre for Constitutional Transitions at the University of New York, the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces and the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation."
"We are honored to be included in such an august list of major international organizations, within our first year of operations," said Choudhry.
