Departure Information for Current Students
DEPARTURE FROM NUS/SINGAPORE
Cancellation of Student’s Pass (ICA)
Foreign students must surrender their Student’s Pass for cancellation within 7 days from the date of cessation or termination of their study.
Students may surrender their Student’s Pass at the Checkpoints when departing the country.
Student is expected to complete the cancellation form and submit this form together with their student pass.
Students who surrender their Student’s Passes at the Student’s Pass Unit, 4th floor, ICA Building will be granted a short stay in Singapore on cancellation of their Student’s Passes.
If the student wishes to have a longer period of stay to look for jobs on completion of their courses, he/she may submits an application for a one-year (non-renewable) long term social visit pass at the Social Visit Pass Unit for consideration. For more information, please click here
Return of Student Cards
You may wish to keep your NYU student card.
Please note that this card will give you access to the facilities at NYU at New York City once it has been activated. Students who will be attending the New York Seminar in NYU at New York City will be duly activated for your period of study at NYC. Other NYU@NUS students, who will be at NYU during summer term, please inform the NYU@NUS office to make such arrangements so that your card will be activated as well.
Please return your NUS student card to the NYU@NUS office.
Return of Mailbox Key
Please return your key to Silah at the NYU@NUS office before your final departure from NUS. Please ensure to clear your mailbox before you return the key to Silah.
Student Bill
Please ensure that there is no outstanding amount in your student bills (both NYU and NUS) to avoid any delay in your graduation or access to your NUS examination results on the scheduled release dates.

The modes of payment as follows:
- Online payment (Internet Banking or Credit Card) at: https://myisis.nus.edu.sg
Self-Service -> Campus Finances -> Bill Request -> Select Bill Type “Student Bill”
Click the “Make Payment” button for online epayment via credit/debit card
- NETS, Cash Card payment at the Student Services Centre at Yusof Ishak House, Kent Ridge Campus or at the BMO, Bukit Timah Campus (Blk B, Level 2)
- Cash payment at any of the Singapore Post Offices (SingPost). A complete list of SingPost location and operating hours is available online or call 1605.
For payment at the Student Services Centre, BMO or SingPost, students are required to print a copy of the online student bill of not more than 2 working days’ old from the date of payment [available at: Actual Student Bill for Current Semester (CS Login ( https://myisis.nus.edu.sg) -> Self-Service -> Campus Finances -> Bill Request -> Select Bill Type “Student Bill”] and bring it along when making full payment for the outstanding fees stated on the student bill.
NUS Library Books
Do remember to return books borrowed from NUS Libraries and to settle any outstanding library overdue fines (if any).
Degree Scroll and Transcripts
Please note that you will not receive your degree scroll and transcripts if there is outstanding amount in your student bills including overdue fines (both NYU and NUS).
NYU LL.M.
Please note that NYU will send your NYU LLM degree diploma and your official transcript by post (in LATE AUGUST) to your permanent home address as indicated in ALBERT.
International students (ie out of the US) are not able to change/update their permanent home addresses via ALBERT. If your permanent home address has changed or if you want your degree documents sent to a different (and perhaps more secure) address, please let Silah (silah@nus.edu.sg) know of your address by April 30 2013 so that we can make the change/update on your behalf.
Please check your name on ALBERT. If you would like to CHANGE OF NAME for the reasons as indicated on the form found here, please complete this form and submit with an official documentation (ie. passport particulars page) with the updated name. The reason for change of name includes for students who would like to add their 2nd last name on ALL university records. Please submit this form by April 30 2013.

If you wish to get more copies of the NYU LL.M transcripts, you may wish to apply via NYU’s online system. More information is found here.
If you wish to self-collect or nominate a proxy to collect on your behalf at NYU School of Law in New York City, please complete the form here and return the completed form to NYU@NUS admin office or email at nyu@nus.edu. You will be informed of the collection details in due course.
NUS LL.M.
Please note that NUS will NOT send your NUS LLM degree diploma and your official transcript automatically. Please refer to the information found here. If you are not attending the NUS Commencement in July 2013 and you are unable to collect the documents personally, please complete the authorization form.
Return the completed form to Registrar’s Office, National University of Singapore, University Hall, Lee Kong Chian Wing, #UHL-04-01, 21 Lower Kent Ridge Road, Singapore 119077 or (Fax No. : 65-67786371) with a photocopy of your identity card/passport.
If you are making payment at Student Services Centre at Yusof Ishak House, Kent Ridge Campus or at the BMO, Bukit Timah Campus (Blk B, Level 2), please submit the completed form and a photocopy of your identity card/passport as well.
Note that you may wish to make payment (if applicable) with NETS or Cash Card payment at the Student Services Centre at Yusof Ishak House, Kent Ridge Campus or at the BMO, Bukit Timah Campus (Blk B, Level 2).
There is NO online payment to facilitate the mail service payment for your degree scroll and transcript. If you are not in Singapore and would like to make payment, please note that only bank draft/ money order/cheque to “National University of Singapore” or wire transfer is accepted.

Please indicate your name, matriculation number & that the payment is for the overseas mailing charges of the degree scroll and complimentary transcript.
If you plan to do a wire transfer, it would be good if you can email Silah a copy of your application form together with a copy of your wire transfer transaction details. We would then alert Registrar’s Office (RO) as necessary so that RO can send your degree scroll and complimentary transcript once the payment is received.

E-mail Accounts
NYU Email
The NYU Office of Development and Alumni Relations has teamed with Information Technology Services (ITS) to continue your access to the NYUHome portal and your NYU email indefinitely. This means you can still access your NYU email account even after you have graduated. For more information, please refer to: Keep Your NYUHome & Email Service
NUS Email
AlumMAIL is a complimentary, lifelong email account that identifies you as an alumnus of NUS through the email domain @alumni.nus.edu.sg provided by the NUS Office of Alumni Relations. You will receive details of your new AlumMail email account in your current NUS student email account in June.
E-resources
Please note that your access issued via NYU to LexisNexis and WestLaw will expire on May 15 2013.
You may wish to continue to access these e-resources and other resources at NUS library via your NUS userid. Your NUS student access will expire on July 31 2013.
Submission of UROP
If you are registered for UROP, note that the deadline for submission of UROP papers is Friday, April 12 2013, unless special arrangements have been made with the supervisor for an earlier submission.
Please read the UROP’s submission requirements.
Each student is required to submit an electronic copy and 2 hardcopies (1 hard-bound copy for the library and 2 ring-bound copies for grading) to the NUS Law Academic Affairs (Graduate).
We understand that some of you will not be in Singapore when your paper is due. For such cases, the NYU@NUS office has made provisions to assist in your submission.
Before you leave Singapore and if you would like the NYU@NUS office to assist in your UROP submission, please note the following:
1. Make advance total payment of $15 in Singapore Dollars to the NYU@NUS office
- Hard-bound copy: $12 per copy
- Ring-bound copy: $2 per copy
- Burn to CD-Rom and label: $1 per copy
2. Please submit the softcopy of your UROP paper(s) in Microsoft Office document format AND PDF format to silah@nus.edu.sg by the stipulated deadline, preferably at the latest by noon (Singapore time) so that we can arrange for the necessary documents to be submitted to NUS Law Academic Affairs (Graduate) before the end of office hours that day. Note that your hard-bound copy will be forwarded to NUS Law Academic Affairs (Graduate) a week after the submission deadline due to the time required for the hard-binding process.
3. When you email the softcopy of your UROP paper(s) to Silah, remember to include the following details in your email:
- Faculty of Law, NUS
- UROP DR 2013
- Name of Student
- Name of Graduate Programme Enrolled In: NYU@NUS
- Title of Dissertation
- Filename (filename of dissertation on CD‐ROM)
- Format (MS Word etc)
