Graduate Student Accommodation
It is our experience that some entering LL.M. students come directly from their first degree in law, while others have been working professionally for a few, or even a number of years. Some LL.M. students have lived close to their law school or job, while others may have commuted daily. Therefore, the accommodation sought by each LL.M. student will be that which works most reasonably with his or her budget, standard of living, and lifestyle needs.
Most students in the NYU@NUS program choose to seek private accommodation. Neither NYU nor NUS is in a position to vouch for any of these services; the following is offered for your information only.
NUS maintains a list of alternative housing that may be of assistance.
Students who are interested to consider sharing a room with non-NYU students may wish to visit this website: http://sg.easyroommate.com/.
In exploring the private market, the use of real estate agents may be an efficient way to locate accommodation if one is short of time. Do note that in Singapore, when one leases an apartment in the private market, the landlord would expect one month’s advance rent, one month’s security deposit and the real estate agent would also expect the equivalent of one month’s rent as commission (this is the maximum amount, some agents may charge less). Before you embark on finding a suitable room/apartment in the private market, you may wish to read on Tips for Searching Private Accommodation.
