Scholarship Programs

NYU offers highly competitive scholarships to full-time LL.M. students in both New York City and Singapore. Admission and scholarship decisions are made based on merit without regard to financial need. The criteria for admission and scholarship awards are the same for programs in New York City and in Singapore.

Due to a generous donation marking the inception of NYU@NUS, there is more funding available for students studying in Singapore. Therefore, for applicants whose first preference is NYU@NUS, there is a greater chance of receiving a scholarship than for those who indicate a preference for New York City. The Committee will offer admission and scholarship awards for NYU@NUS on a rolling basis. The Committee will begin finalizing decisions before the application deadline making subsequent offers only if space in the program and scholarship funds remain available. Therefore, NYU@NUS applicants are encouraged to submit their applications and all required application materials as early as possible. Additionally, preference for scholarship awards will be given to those students pursuing the second LL.M. from NUS, which is offered to all students with no additional fees.

Financing Graduate Legal Education
A private legal education is a significant investment of your time and money and should be approached with a full understanding of both the benefits and costs. While the School of Law has several highly selective, merit-based scholarship programs (described above), in most cases financing a graduate education rests primarily with the student. Therefore, we strongly encourage applicants to our degree programs to investigate all available financing options.

We have assembled information about various supplemental financial aid opportunities on our Web site. The information is not exhaustive and your own research may be very beneficial. Please confirm all application deadlines for external aid directly with the granting organization. International students should also explore financing options in their home countries.

Students come to the School of Law from varied backgrounds but the student expense budget reflects a simple lifestyle; that of a graduate student. With that in mind, the Office of Student Financial Services develops student expense budgets that estimate a student’s annual projected educational expenses, including tuition, fees, living expenses, books and health insurance. Information on the student expense budget for study in New York and for study in Singapore is located online.
