How to Update a Regulation

Regulation: 16 CFR 1500.17, in CFR volume dated January 1, 1995. Assume todays date is 3/17/96.

1. LSA - Check the most recent LSA and work backward in time so the time period from Jan 1, 1995 forward is covered.

  • Jan. 96 Covers Jan 2-31, 1996

  • Dec. 95 Covers Jan 3 - Dec 29, 1995

2. Federal Register - Check the Federal Register CFR Parts Affected During Month table for the last day of every month after LSA coverage ends.

  • Feb. 29, 1996 covers Feb. 1996

  • March 16, 1996 covers until yesterday.

3. Find the dates for all Federal Register pages referred to by checking the Table of Federal Register Issue Pages and Dates in LSA and the Federal Register.

4. Read the update in the Federal Register.
