Book Request             

Ways to Request A Book

Request a Book Online Now

 Fill out a Faculty Request Form and walk it down to the Reference Desk or send it via Interoffice Mail to Faculty Services/Reference Desk.

Phone the Faculty Hotline (x86606) and give your citation(s) to the Reference Librarian on duty. If voicemail answers, you may place your request by providing the following information:

  • Your name

  • That this is a book request (indicate which library owns the book, if known)

  • Author, title and call number (if known)

  • Any special instructions

Returning Books

Law Library Books

  • Request a book pick-up from the Circulation Desk (x86312), 
    OR

  • Bring the book to the Circulation Desk

Bobst or Interlibrary Loan Books

If the Law Library borrowed the book on your behalf:

  • Return the book to Faculty Services/Reference Desk. Do not return the book to Bobst or another library directly 
    OR

  • Request a book pick-up from the Circulation Desk (x86312)

If you or a secretary borrowed a book directly from Bobst, return the book directly to Bobst .  Do not return it to the Law Library.

General Information

  • Requests for books are accepted weekdays only

  • Books available at the Law Library will be delivered the same day, if requested by 12:00 noon

  • Books available at Bobst Library will be delivered within 48 hours

  • Books not available at NYU Libraries will be routed to Interlibrary Loan, and will be delivered when received from the lending institution

  • Deliveries to faculty offices are made twice daily,  10:00-11:00 a.m., and 3:00-4:00 p.m.

  • Service may take longer at certain busy times

  • Please rely on your secretary or research assistant if you need immediate service
