Many thanks to all who provided feedback during the notice and comment period and also to Sam Castic and the SBA Rules Committee for their efforts to incorporate your suggestions. SBA maintains Coase's list as a general-purpose forum for the law school community. If you are not already subscribed, I invite you to join at NYU Home? Forums. 4. 1Ls: We are eager to hear your feedback on the elective registration process. Email us at law.sba@nyu.edu with your thoughts. 5. If you are the person who took from VH110 the box of medicine intended for victims of the recent earthquake in Pakistan, please return it. You can contact me directly to arrange its return, which will be greatly appreciated. 6. I want to reiterate that you need to get your laptop certified. Even though the administration's emails may have come across as abrasive to many of you, I encourage you to go ahead with the certification process in order to avoid any unpleasant situations during exams. Apparently less than a quarter of all students have certified their laptops. The five step instructions on how to configure and certify your laptop for ExamSoft readiness are available at: http://www.law.nyu.edu/technology/laptopsetup/. If you need additional help, below are the dates and locations for configuration and certification sessions: Wednesday, November 16 - FH 216 4:00pm -5:00pm; Thursday November 17 - VH 210 6:00pm - 7:00pm; Friday, November 18 - VH 206 1:00pm - 2:00pm; Mo! nday, November 21 - FH 216 6:00pm -7:00pm; Tuesday, November 22 - FH216 1:00pm -2:00pm; Tuesday, November 22 - FH216 6:00pm -7:00pm. 7. Students are invited to submit nominations for the University's Distinguished Teaching Award. Every year, faculty members are recognized for their outstanding teaching effectiveness, innovative pedagogical approaches, and ability to inspire, promote, and sustain the intellectual development of students. Please submit your nomination to the Office of Student Affairs, Furman Hall, Suite 474, or send an email to law.studentaffairs@nyu.edu. Nominations should be in the form of a letter that fully explains why your faculty nominee is deserving of this award. Nominations must be submitted by Thursday, December 1. The awardee(s) will be selected by an all-university selection committee. 8. Please see the attached flyer regarding an event on 29th of November which challenges students to work on teams to come up with plans to balance the federal budget. Students get to choose from real budget options prepared for the President and the Congress. Washington budget experts will be on hand to brief students and offer advice. Results will be forwarded to the Congress in time to help guide the next round of decision making. It is an unmatched chance to learn about the Federal Budget, to make your preferences about national priorities count, and to bend the ear of Washington decision makers. Take it easy, Oliver New York University Student Bar Association Proposed Bylaw Amendment SBA Bylaws for Coase's List Proposed by the SBA Rules Committee on October 10, 2005. Enacted by the SBA Board of Governors on November 7, 2005. Be it enacted by the SBA that the following be added to the bylaws at section 11, and the existing bylaws be renumbered accordingly: 11 Coase's List 11.1 Purpose Coase's List is a resource for current law students and alumni to exchange and sell property and services with each other, to publicize law school related and noncommercial events, and to seek advice and opinions on matters incident to life at the law school. 11.2 Access Membership on Coase's List is open to current and past NYU Law students with valid NYU email addresses. Members of the Administration and non-law school students are not eligible for membership. 11.3 Conduct Conduct on Coase's List must comply with the law school and SBA's nondiscrimination policies. The sale of class spots is not permitted. The SBA in consultation with the NYU School of Law Administration, reserves the right to ban the sale of other law school quasi property at its discretion. Commercial advertising is not permitted. 11.4 Regulation Violation of these policies will result in a warning from Coase's List's SBA administrator, and subsequent violations will result in removal from the List for a period determined by the SBA Executive Committee. Violation of the law school or SBA nondiscrimination policy is grounds for removal without warning. Appeals of decisions to remove a person from the List can be made to the SBA Board of Governors.
