Summer NYU School of Law Students
If you are not a current NYU School of Law student and you would like to apply for summer housing accommodations, please submit a Summer Living in New York Application.
We look forward to having you live in one of the New York University School of Law residences this summer. We encourage current residents to remain, and those not currently living in housing to apply. You may choose to rent a full apartment or a room in an apartment for 4-15 weeks (as applicable). Please note the following:
Transition Housing
(Housing for the period between the end of the Spring Term and the start of the Summer Term)
Current spring 2010 residents who request, and are confirmed for, a summer housing stay for week 1 (May 23, 2010 - Summer Housing start date) are eligible for Transition Housing. Residents in Transition Housing will be charged the Summer 2010 weekly rate that corresponds with the apartment type to which they are assigned. Current residents switching into a different apartment assignment for the Transition Week and summer will be required to do so as scheduled by the Department of Residence Services (Sunday, May 16 at 2:00 p.m. or Monday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m.). Residents will be charged the Summer 2010 weekly rate that corresponds with the apartment type to which they are assigned.
Please see the summer housing rates to determine the rate charged for Transition Housing.
Note the following:
-
Only current spring 2010 residents who are requesting summer housing as of week 1 (May 23, 2010) are eligible for Transition Week housing.
-
Summer housing applicants must apply for a minimum stay of 4 weeks. Transition Week housing accounts for 1 week of the minimun stay of 4 weeks.
Summer Term Housing
The Summer Term begins on May 23, 2010 and ends on August 14, 2010. Applicants may apply for a stay of 4 to 12 weeks.
Summer to Fall Housing
NYU School of Law students who have a summer housing assignment for week 12 of the Summer Term (August 8 to August 14, 2010), and also have a confirmed Fall 2010 housing assignment, may apply for accommodations from August 14 (end of the Summer Program) to August 28 (start of the Academic Year License Period). Those applicants assigned during this period must switch into their academic year housing assignment on August 15. Residents will be charged the 2010-11 early arrival daily rate that corresponds with the apartment type to which they are assigned. Due to the arrival of the entering class, only those residents with a Fall 2010 housing assignment will be accommodated during this time.
Payment
Payment for all summer housing charges must be made in full by Thursday, June 10, 2010. Those summer residents who fail to make payment by June 10, 2010 will be unable to participate in the course selection lottery that begins on May 15, 2010 and will be charged a $100 late payment fee. Residents who face financial hardship should contact the Office of Student Financial Services to arrange a housing payment plan. Residents with an approved housing payment plan will not be assessed the $100 late payment fee.
Note: Unless your account is paid in full by June 10 you will not be permitted to participate in several important student processes. Specifically, if you have an arrears balance from a prior semester, you will not be permitted to register for courses in the Course Registration Lottery. If you have paid your balance for the prior semester but will not make the summer housing payment by the Bursar's deadline of June 10, your Course Registration Lottery requests will not be processed (even if you entered your requests on Albert).
Students who are financially obligated to the University for tuition, housing, library or other services will have a "HOLD" placed on their account until all arrears have been paid. This means the following:
1) Course Lottery and Drop/Add Registrations will not be processed
2) state bar examination will not be certified;
3) official transcript will not be printed; and
4) a diploma will not be issued.
