Cancellation Requests

New York University School of Law students and Summer Living in New York (non-NYU School of Law students) applicants may request to cancel their housing applications and assignments online. The licensee is responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period. Applicants should refer to the appropriate License for detailed information on the applicable cancellation policies.

Cancellation Requests for NYU School of Law Students

Entering Student Cancellation Requests

To cancel a 2014-15 academic year housing application or assignment, returning students must submit an Entering Student Cancellation Request Form.

  • To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on June 27, 2014, or the date indicated in your initial assignment, to cancel an academic year or fall only housing assignment.
  • Applicants who cancel after 5:00 p.m. on June 27, 2014 and prior to 5:00 p.m. on August 1, 2014 will be assessed a $1,500 late cancellation fee. 
  • After 5:00 p.m. on August 1, 2014, applicants are responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period. 
  • Entering students not assigned or on the waitlist may cancel their application at any time.

Returning Student Academic Year Cancellation Requests

To cancel a 2015-16 academic year housing application or assignment, returning students must submit a Returning Student Cancellation Request Form.

  • To be without penalty, notice of cancellation must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on April 5, 2015, or the date indicated in your initial assignment, to cancel an academic year or fall only housing assignment.
  • Applicants who cancel after 5:00 p.m. on April 5, 2015 and prior to 5:00 p.m. on May 15, 2015, will be assessed a $1500 late cancellation fee. After 5:00 p.m. on May 15, 2015, applicants are responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period.
  • Returning students on the waitlist may cancel their application at any time.

Summer 2015 Cancellation Requests

The cancellation deadline for spring 2015 graduates and returning students with a confirmed summer 2014 housing assignment is April 15, 2015.

To cancel a summer 2015 housing application or assignment, spring 2015 graduates and returning students must submit the Summer Cancellation Request Form.

 

Spring 2015 Cancellation Requests

Residents with a 2014-15 Academic Year Housing Assignment are assigned for the full academic year license period. After the applicable cancellation deadlines, as indicated in the 2014-15 Housing Application and License, the licensee is responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period.

Applicants for Spring only Semester housing assignment must submit 2015 Spring Housing Cancellation Request by no later than 12:00 noon on November 21, 2014, to be without penalty. Those assigned after Novemeber 21, 2014, have 48 hours after notification to cancel without penalty.

 

Summer Living in New York Cancellation Requests

Unless your written request to cancel your assignment is received and approved by April 5, 2015, or by the date indicated in your initial assignment letter, the license binds you to all terms for the full license period.

Note:

If you never occupy or you vacate your assigned space without submitting a written cancellation request, or if your cancellation request is not approved, the License will not be cancelled and you will continue to be responsible for all fees due under or as a consequence of the License for the entire License period.

Those assigned after the April 5, 2015, cancellation deadline will have 48 hours (48 hours, not business hours) from the date of assignment notification to cancel without obligation. Waitlisted applicants who do not have a housing assignment may cancel their housing application and be refunded their initial payment at any time.

2014 Summer Living in New York applicants must submit the Summer Cancellation Request Form for approval.
