Student Event Policies

To make a space request for a function space or classroom, simply go to the Hospitality and Food Services Event Management System homepage: Reserve a Space.

Outside catering is only permitted in classrooms, Golding Lounge, Wachtell, Rosen and Katz Café, The John Sexton Student Forum, D'Agastino Hall - 12th Floor Terrace (max. 50 people) and 14th Floor Terrace (max. 74 people), Mercer Street Residence - 7th Floor Terrace - (max. 74 people) and Mercer Pub (max. 50 people). A cleaning deposit of $121.50 will be required when an outside caterer is used in one of these rooms.  Please make this check out to “New York University” and bring it to the Office of Hospitality and Food Services in D’Agostino Hall, Room M101. If the room is clean and orderly after it has been used, a representative from the organization may pick up the uncashed check two days after the event. If the room is not properly cleaned, the Office of Hospitality and Food Services will cash the check.

For student groups, an exception will only be made to allow outside food and beverage in the public function rooms* for items ordered from the Student Pick-Up Program, Kosher events, or ethnic food that our full service kitchen can not replicate. These events require wait staff and should be scheduled through the Office of Hospitality and Food Services.

*Event Space where wait staff is required and $105.00 Room Charge is applied:

Tishman Auditorium, Greenberg Lounge, Snow Dining Room, Faculty Club, Lipton Hall, Lester Pollack Colloquium and Furman Hall 910.

*Weekend classroom use carries a $25.00 Room Charge (per classroom/per day)

*Additional event space availability for student events (no waitstaff required, food and beverage deposit applies): 

Rosen, Lipton & Katz Student Café (Furman Hall) : Monday thru Thursday after 6:00pm and Friday after 3:00pm

Golding Lounge (Vanderbilt Hall): Monday thru Thursday after 6:00pm and Friday after 3:00pm

John Sexton Student Forum (Furman Hall): Monday thru Friday after 9:00pm

The below guidelines will be applied if there is outside food and beverage in the public function rooms:

Mandatory charges:
Wait Staff – $27.00 per waiter/per hour with a 5 hour minimum (required- 2 hours for set-up and 1 hour for breakdown)

Items to be supplied for each event at no charge when wait staff is scheduled:
Disposable Chafing Dishes, Sternos, Ice, Plastic Serving Utensils, Plastic Plates, Plastic Cups, Paper Napkins, Plastic Knives/Forks/Spoons, Usage of Refrigerator/Freezer/Oven, Easels, Tables, Chairs

Items supplied at an extra charge:
House Wine - $25.50 (5 glasses per bottle)
Kegs of Bud and/or Bud Light - $155.00
China Rentals and Glassware – Minimum of $350.00
Reception (consisting of glassware and hor d’oeuvres plates) - $2.60 per person
Dinner (consisting of dinner/bread and butter plates/glassware/utensils/serving utensils/napkins) - $17.25 per person
Table Linens - $7.00/each
Food - Price dependent upon choice of menu
Security (mandatory for Lipton Hall/Faculty Club use where outside guests are in attendance) - $44.00 per hour with a 5 hour minimum
Coat Check – on weekdays, (1) additional attendant is required for groups of 100 or more. On weekends no attendant is required. If requested, (1) attendant for every 100 people.
Vanderbilt Hall, Furman Hall and D'Agostino Hall $27.00 per hour, with a 5 hour minimum
Floral Arrangements – Minimum order of $40.00 required
