How to Waive Introduction to US Law and Introduction to US Legal Practice

Students who have previously taken comparable courses and who wish to seek a waiver of the requirement to take Introduction to US Law and Introduction to US Legal Practice must complete and submit a Request to Waive Introduction to US Law and Introduction to US Legal Practice form. Students who have a JD degree from a US law school will be automatically waived out of this course. Waiver forms can be submitted as attachments via email to law.graduateaffairs@nyu.edu. You may not request to waive only one of the two classes.

For students beginning the LLM program in fall 2024, waiver requests must be submitted by June 14, 2024

International Students in F-1 or J-1 status: If you are approved for the waiver, you must contact the Office of Global Services for an updated I-20 or DS-2019 with the revised program start date as the start of Fall classes. The earliest entry date to the US is within 30 days of your new program start date.
