University of Copenhagen (Denmark)
Four NYU Law students may study law at the University of Copenhagen each academic year (two in the fall semester and two in the spring semester). Courses are offered in the areas of international, comparative, European, and Scandinavian law and are conducted in English (with several in German).
The University and its Faculty of Law are located in the heart of Copenhagen, the largest city in Scandinavia. Founded in 1479, the University currently enrolls approximately 26,000 students in many departments. The University's Faculty of Law is Denmark's largest law school, with more than 4,100 law students. The staff is comprised of approximately 30 full-time professors and 300 part-time teachers. Average class size is 35 students and the majority of teachers favor active classroom participation and debate, as opposed to a lecture-style of instruction.
NYU students may choose to apply for either the fall semester (September-December) or the spring semester (February-late May). Students who select the spring semester will not return to the U.S. until approximately June 1. Third-year students should bear in mind that they will miss NYU graduation ceremonies and the beginning of bar review courses.
A typical full-time course of study consists of three courses, with each course meeting for a total of 40 hours.
