Global Fellows Program

The Hauser Global Law School’s Global Fellows Program bring academics, researchers, scholars, practitioners, and doctoral students from around the world to NYU for up to one year to conduct and present the research for future publication as a Global Law Working Paper.

The principle aim of the Global Fellows Program at New York University School of Law is the production of scholarship and the advancement of research on global issues prioritized by the Hauser Global Law School Program. We have a notable history of hosting distinguished U.S. and foreign scholars, judges, lawyers and government officials who wish to spend time advancing their scholarship and engaging fully in the intellectual life of the Law School.  To that end, fellows will find a wealth of academic activities in which they may participate, including fora, lectures, colloquia, seminars and conferences.  Additionally, various social events occur each year, some specifically for Global Fellows and other community-wide celebrations.

Through the Global Fellows Forum and JSD Forum, Global Fellows and Hauser Research Scholars share their research with colleagues, students, and faculty for comment and feedback.  In this way, they contribute to the intellectual life of the Law School and provide an opportunity for the community to learn about current law research from a global perspective and in a wide range of topics.  The Visiting Doctoral Students are fully integrated into the JSD program and provide a further international flavor to that program.  The primary goal of the Global Fellows Program is the enhancement of research and it is expected that participation in the Program will result in a substantial piece of scholarship which will be considered for inclusion in the Global Law Working Paper Series.

Hauser continues to reach out to universities around the world to encourage application and participation in this program.  Past Global Fellows and Hauser Research Scholars have gone on to become well-respected scholars in their area of expertise and have been invited back to the Law School as Global Law Faculty.  Potential fellows are encouraged to review the extensive course offerings, colloquia and special events on this and the Law School's web site to better understand the ways in which they may be enriched by their time at NYU School of Law and the Law School enriched by them.
