To Be an International Court Judge:
A Conversation with Bruno Simma, Judge at the International Court of Justice

The Hauser Global Law School Program was honored to welcome Judge Bruno Simma as a Distinguished Global Fellow at New York University School of Law. The highlight of his short stay at the Law School was an informal conversation with J.H.H. Weiler, University Professor and Faculty Director of the Hauser Global Law School Program. Additionally, he participated in many events of the Hauser 10th Anniversary Reunion. Please see below for an outline of the events in his residency and pictures of the main event.

Distinguished Fellow Residency

March 4-6
Attended the events of the Hauser 10th Anniversary Reunion.

March 6
Sat on the Hauser Reunion panel "International Adjudication and Judicial Impartiality" that discussed the establishment in recent years of several supra national tribunals and the complex questions that arise about the roles of judges and of such institutions themselves.

March 9
Visit to the Hauser Colloquium entitled "Globalization and Its Discontents: The Social Dimensions of Global Markets," by invitation from Professors J.H.H. Weiler and Kevin Davis. Also visiting this session of the colloquium was Professor Kerry Rittich of the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto.

Visit to the Human Rights Research Seminar by invitation from Professor Philip Alston.

March 9
Distinguished Fellow Lecture entitled "To Be an International Court Judge."

March 10
Visit to the Institute for International Law and Justice Colloquium entitled "Rethinking the Table of Contents of International Law: The Impact of Human Rights on the Development of International Law," by invitation from Professor J.H.H. Weiler.
