A Conversation with Ronan Keane
The Hauser Global Law School Program was honored to welcome Chief Justice Ronan Keane as a Distinguished Global Fellow at New York University School of Law. The highlight of his short stay at the Law School was an informal conversation with J.H.H. Weiler, University Professor and Faculty Director of the Hauser Global Law School Program. Additionally, he visited with students and faculty in select classes and informal gatherings. Please see below for an outline of the events in his residency and pictures of the main event.
Distinguished Fellow Residency
April 3
Visit to the Comparative Corporate Law Seminar by invitation from Eric Orts, Visiting Professor of Law. The topic discussed during the seminar was current developments in corporate law in Ireland and their relation to those of the European Union. Justice Keane then dined with Professor Orts and selected students from that seminar.
April 4
Attended the Global Fellows Forum at which Dr. Maria Angeles Ahumada, Global Research Fellow, presented her research-in-progress "Judicial Federalism in the Light of the American Experience."

Distinguished Fellow Lecture entitled "To Be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ireland"
April 5
Visit to the Legal History Colloquium by invitation from Professor Daniel Hulseboch and Professor Emeritus John Reid. Discussed during the visit was American legal realism.
April 5
Visit to the Social Theory and the Business Enterprise Seminar by invitation from Eric Orts, Visiting Professor of Law.
April 6
Attended a lunch seminar at the Glucksman Ireland House by invitation from Professor Joseph Lee. Discussed during the lunch was continuity and change in the Irish constitution.

Visit to the Constitutional Dialogues Seminar by invitation from Professor Barry Friedman.
April 7
Attended the Hauser Scholars Lunch, a bi-monthly event for Hauser Global Scholars and Hauser Research Scholars, at which Chief Justice Keane spoke about unenumerated or implied rights in the Irish constitution.
