Additional Services and Extra Charges
Coat Check
Vanderbilt Hall
During the academic year, there is a coat check attendant on duty
in Vanderbilt Hall that serves the entire Law School community Monday
through Friday from 8:30 AM until 11:00 PM. There is no charge for
this service. Since this one attendant must handle coats for everyone
in the building who desires the service, an extra attendant must
be ordered for large events (parties of 100 or more) at the rate
of $31.00 per hour, with a 4 hour minimum fee.
There is no regularly scheduled coat attendant on duty Saturday
or Sunday, but arrangements can be made through the Office of Special
Events at (212) 998-6117 to hire an attendant at the weekend rate
of $53.04 per hour, with a 4 hour minimum fee.
D'Agostino Hall
There is no regular coat attendant on duty in Lipton Hall. Arrangements
can be made through the Office of Special Events to hire an attendant
at $27.00 per hour with 4.5 hour minimum. Two attendants are required
for parties of 100 or more.
Insurance Requirement
All external groups must submit a liability
insurance rider in the amount of one million dollars which names
NYU as an additional insured party on the date of their event. Proof
of not-for-profit status must also be submitted before a contract
will be considered valid.
Floral Services
In order to maintain the same level of quality for each of our events,
we request that clients order flowers for functions through the
Office of Special Events .
Off Premise Catering and Gift Baskets
We can refer excellent caterers to handle your off premise catering and gift basket needs. Please contact Meagan Sullivan at (212) 998-6116 for a recommendation. Generally, paper and plastic come with the catering at no charge and china and glassware can be rented or supplied at an extra charge.
Rentals
The rental company requires a minimum order of $300. This amount
will be charged by the rental company even if your rental order
is less than $300. The client will be charged for all rentals required
for their event. It may be necessary to rent additional items for
certain events. An estimate for these charges will be provided to
the client prior to the event.
Sales Tax
Any outside organization that does not have a 501-C(3) tax-exempt
certificate will be required to pay 8.6250% New York sales tax on
all goods and services provided by the Office of Special Events.
Security
Vanderbilt Hall
There are security personnel on the premises 24 hours per day each
day that the building is open. Depending on the nature of the event,
the number of attendees, or if dignitaries or high profile personalities
will be present, additional security may be required at the discretion
of the Law School. The extra fee per security person is $32.00 per
hour.
D'Agostino Hall
All guests using D'Agostino Hall facilities must go through the
private events entrance at 108 West Third Street. To ensure the
safety of your guests as well as the safety of the residents of
the building, it is mandatory that a guard be hired for each event
at $32.00 per hour with a 4.5 hour minimum.
Mercer Pub & Residence Halls
For events taking place in Mercer Pub and residence hall terraces with non-resident attendees, a guest list is required for security purposes. Each guest should be denoted as either Law School-affiliated or from outside the Law School community and the list must include the event name/date/time/location, and contact name with phone number. Please provide the building guard on duty with a copy of the list prior to the event.
Grilling and smoking are prohibited on all terraces.
Mercer Pub and all residence hall terraces are closed to events beginning fifteen days prior to and through the finals periods, in accordance with quiet hours.
The Mercer Pub has a curfew of 11:00 pm on weeknights and 1:00 am on weekends. The residence hall terraces have a curfew of 11:00 pm on all nights. Excessive noise will result in an early shut-down of the event.
Storage of Materials
On some occasions it may be possible to store materials 24 hours
prior to an event. However, storage space at the Law School is limited.
The Office of Special Events is not responsible for items lost or
stolen while in storage. Any items left in a Law School space must
be retrieved no later than one day after the end of an event.
Easels
The facilities office will only accept requests for easels three days before an event. In addition, we will limit the number of easels at any given point in time to five. Students may, of course, still announce their events in the Docket and by posting notices in the Vice Dean’s bulletin boards.
If you have any questions about this policy, please contact Sara Lewin at 212-992-8193.
External Billing Policy
If you are an external group, law firm or student, NYU Law Office of Conferencing and Specials Events and CulinArt will require full pre-payment of your event prior to or on the day of your event. Payment can be made by check or credit card only.
