3RD QUARTER 2008 LRAP APPLICATION
The next LRAP application period (for the 3rd quarter of 2008) begins May 1, 2008. The application deadline is 11:59pm, June 1, 2008.  First time LRAP applicants seeking entry into the Program during the 2nd quarter of 2008 must complete this application. Eligible participants entering at this time will receive benefits for loan payments effective July 1, 2008. You must request access to the application by e-mailing us at law.lrap@nyu.edu.

Program Overview
NYU School of Law encourages its graduates to pursue careers in public service. The Melvyn and Barbara Weiss Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) is one program designed to assist J.D. graduates who choose careers in the public service or other low paying fields of law. LRAP provides our graduates with greater flexibility in career choice by easing the burden of debt repayment obligations. Graduates who choose careers in public service or with not-for-profit organizations following graduation will, provided that their qualifying income is below the level provided in the published qualifying income scale, have their debt burden paid in full or part by NYU.

NYU introduced the LRAP program in 1984. Our commitment to assisting our graduates in pursuing public interest employment remains an important aspect of our mission to produce caring and compassionate future leaders and scholars.

Application Deadlines and Quarterly Entrance Periods

Annual Application Period

Participants must apply annually to the program. The annual application period is from September 1 - October 15 of the calendar year prior to that for which benefits are being requested. Applications for the program are available at a secure online site.  You must request access to the application by e-mailing us at law.lrap@nyu.edu.

Quarterly Entrance Periods

• First Quarter (Benefits for January, February, March) – you must apply during the annual application period – September 1st – October 15th.
• Second Quarter (Benefits for April, May, June) – Application period is February 1st – March 1st.
• Third Quarter (Benefits for July, August, September) – Application period is May 1st – June 1st.
• Fourth Quarter (Benefits for October, November, December) – Application period is August 1st – August 31st.
