Joint Degree Programs

New York University School of Law offers a number of joint degree programs with other schools at the University. NYU School of Law also offers several joint degrees with the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a joint J.D./M.P.A. with the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University .

Candidates apply to each degree program separately, either concurrent with their application to NYU School of Law or during the first year of study at the Law School; for the joint J.D./M.A., Ph.D. in Law and Society, the applications to each program must be concurrent. Admission to one degree program does not depend upon nor guarantee admission to the second degree program; all admissions decisions are made distinctly. Candidates must familiarize themselves with admissions policies and follow all application procedures for each individual school or program.

All JD-MA programs enable students to complete a J.D. and earn a Masters degree in four years. Under some circumstances it may be possible to complete the program in seven semesters. In the Law and Society Program, the joint J.D./M.A. is a four-year commitment with subsequent years devoted to Ph.D. study. All joint degree programs are offered only on a full-time basis.
