New York University School of Law, founded in 1835, is located
on the University's main campus in Greenwich Village in New York
City. NYU School of Law is committed to enrolling a student body from
a broad spectrum of society, with the strongest combination of
qualifications and the greatest potential to contribute to the
diversity and dynamism of the Law School community. The Law School
strives to provide access to the finest legal education to members
of groups under-represented in the legal profession.
The Law School community is enormously enhanced by our students'
diverse backgrounds and experiences. Twenty-five percent of the
Law School's J.D. students are students of color. More than 170
colleges and universities are represented in the Law School's student body.
Seventy percent of the J.D. entering class enroll at the Law School
after engaging in a variety of professional pursuits.
The Law School aspires to be the embodiment of equal opportunity.
Through numerous scholarship and aid programs, the Law School is
committed to enabling all students regardless of financial background
to pursue a legal education. In recent years, the expansion
of the AnBryce Scholarship Program has provided full scholarships
for three years of study at the Law School to several outstanding
J.D. students who are the first in their families to pursue a graduate
degree. The Law School has also participated in recent court actions,
through joining a brief in defense of affirmative action before
the Supreme Court, and by joining legal action opposing discrimination
against gays in the military.
Located in Greenwich Village and New York City, NYU School of
Law is a vibrant part of this great city. Members of the Law School
community enjoy an inexhaustible array of cultural options, thrive
from the opportunity to work with diverse populations, and benefit
from a rich educational experience that extends far beyond the
confines of the classroom. Application Receipt, Status, and Requests of LSDAS
Reports
It is common for some time to pass, up to and including a few weeks,
between the receipt of an application and the request of an LSDAS
report.
NYU School of Law typically receives approximately 8,000 applications
for admission to the J.D. program each year, processes many thousands
more letters of recommendation, transcripts, examination reports,
etc., and receives several thousand more inquiries. Because of this
volume of correspondence, the Committee on Admissions is not able
to respond to email inquiries about application receipt and status.
We ask applicants to please refrain from contacting us via email
with questions about application receipt and status. Requests of
this nature only slow down the process for all applicants. Candidates
will receive information about application receipt and status as
the process moves forward. The members of the Committee on Admissions
and the staff of the Office of Admissions appreciate your patience.
