2008-09 Registration Calendar
Please note these important dates and deadlines for accomplishing registration-related tasks. Use Albert, the University's web-based student information system, for registration.

| June 11 | All previous arrears, including summer housing, must be cleared in order to participate in registration lottery for 2008-2009. |
| June 12 | Deadline to submit permissions or waivers (including waivers of prerequisites taken at other law schools) for fall 2008 lottery. |
| June 13 | Albert available to register requests for fall 2008 lottery. |
| June 16 | Registration requests accepted for fall 2008 Stern courses. |
| June 23-September 15 | Request for fall 2008 graduate level non-Law course (except for Stern courses) accepted. |
| June 23-September 16 | Requests for fall 2008 College of Arts and Science language course accepted. |
| July 13, 11:59 p.m. |
Last day to register requests for fall 2008 lottery on Albert. |
| July 14, 8 a.m. | Fall 2008 registration lottery is run. |
| July 20 | Deadline to submit permissions or waivers (including waivers of prerequisites taken at other law schools) for spring 2009 lottery. |
| July 21 | Fall 2008 schedules available on Albert. |

Fall 2008 add/drop begins on Albert. Students who did not participate in the lottery may add and drop courses. |

Last day to register requests for spring 2009 lottery on Albert. |

Spring 2009 registration lottery is run. |
| August 11 | Spring 2009 schedules available on Albert. Both fall 2008 and spring 2009 schedules are now available. |

Spring 2009 add/drop begins on Albert. Students who did not participate in the lottery may add and drop courses. Fall 2008 add/drop continues. |

Albert is closed to all students except transfer students. |
| August 15, 8 a.m. - August 18, 5 p.m. | For Transfer students only: Albert available to register requests for fall 2008 lottery. |
| August 18 | Transfer student fall 2008 lottery is run. |
| August 19 | Transfer student fall 2008 schedules are available on Albert. |
| August 19-August 21, 11:59 p.m. | Transfer students may register and add/drop for fall 2008 and spring 2009. Albert is not available for students other than transfer students. |
| August 22, 8 a.m. - September 3, 11:59 p.m. |
All students, including visiting students, may register and add/drop for fall 2008 and spring 2009. |
| August 24, 11:59 p.m. |
Last day to drop all duplicate sections of the same course from your schedule. If not, the spring section of the duplicated course will be dropped from your schedule on August 25. Last day to drop one of mutually-exclusive courses. If not, one of the courses will be dropped from your schedule. Last day to drop more than two seminars in either semester from your schedule. If not, the third seminar will be dropped from your fall/spring schedule on August 25. |
| August 25-September 3 | Prerequisites, duplicate course sections, more than two seminars, and mutually-exclusive courses are checked daily for fall courses. Students not in compliance are dropped. |
| September 1 | Last day to submit work from prior semesters for students graduating in September 2008. |
| September 2 | Last day to add a Stern fall 2008 day course. |
| September 3, 11:59 p.m. | Last day to add/drop courses on Albert for fall 2008 and spring 2009. |
| September 4-December 5 | Credit/Fail option available for fall 2008 on TorchTone (J.D. students only) at 212-995-4747. |
| September 15 | Last day to add a fall 2008 graduate level non-Law course (except for Stern courses). |
| September 16 | Last day to submit requests for fall 2008 College of Arts and Science language course. |
| September 17 | Last day to add a Stern fall 2008 evening course. |
| September 29 | Last day to add Directed Research and Writing Credit for fall 2008. |
| October 31 | Last day to have all payments posted or be dropped from all spring 2009 classes. |
| November 3 (8am)-November 10 (11:59pm) | JD 1L student registration for spring 2009 elective courses via Albert begins. |
| November 17 | Requests for spring 2009 non-law graduate level courses accepted. |
| November 17 | Requests for spring 2009 College of Arts and Science language course accepted. |
| October 3 | Deadline to apply for January 2009 graduation via Torchtone: (212) 995-4747. |
| October 6-January 30 | Apply for May 2009 graduation via Torchtone: (212) 995-4747 |
| December 1 | Requests for spring 2009 law courses by non-law students accepted. |
| December 1 (8am) | Spring 2009 add/drop re-opens for upper-class students. (Albert available to all eligible students, including JD1). |
| December 1(8am) | Spring 2009 JD 1L electives results are available for viewing on Albert. |
| December 1-January 18 | Prerequisites, duplicate course sections, more than two seminars, and mutually-exclusive courses are checked daily for spring 2009 courses. Students not in compliance are dropped. |
| December 5 | Last day to drop fall 2008 courses. |
| January 5, 2009 | Last day to submit work from prior semesters for students graduating in January 2009. |
| January 18 (11:59pm) | Last day to add/drop courses on Albert for spring 2009. |
| January 20- April 28 |

| January 27 | Last day to add a graduate-level daytime non-Law course (except for Stern courses). |

| February 2 | Last day to add a spring 2009 online course (LL.M.s only). |
| February 9 | Last day to add Directed Research and Writing Credit for spring 2009. |
| February 13 | Last day to add a Stern spring 2009 evening course. |
| February 16 | January Graduating students must satisfy all financial obligations to the law school in order to graduate and be certified to sit for the bar exam by this date. |
| March 13 | (FOR FINAL SEMESTER STUDENTS WITH EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES AND ONLY WITH PRIOR PERMISSION OF THE VICE DEAN) Last day to add a Directed Research for students in their FINAL semester with prior permission of the Vice Dean. Date is not applicable to continuing students. |
| April 28 | Last day to drop spring 2009 courses. |
| May 1 | Last day to submit work from prior semesters for students graduating in May 2009. |
| May 13 | Last day to submit work from current spring 2009 semester. |
