Central Bank Bulletin

Published by the Center for the Study of Central Banks at New York University School of Law

The Central Bank Bulletin is an unmoderated electronic mailing list on the Internet, focusing on central banks around the world. The Bulletin is open to anyone, and new members are warmly welcomed (the subscription list, however, will not be made public). It is assumed that participants have a background in central banking or issues related to central bank functions in relation to financial systems. Membership will be from around the world, and will include representatives of central banks, major investment and commercial banks, regulatory agencies, finance ministries, and academic institutions.

The Bulletin provides a clearinghouse through which interested persons can communicate with one another about issues related to central banks. It facilitates the establishment of contacts among persons from many parts of the world and can be used to announce conferences, publications, and other events of interest to subscribers.

Those not familiar with electronic mailing lists made find the following information of interest:

  • To administer the list, the Center for the Study of Central Banks uses a program called ListProcessor, a product of the Corporation for Research and Educational Networking.
  • ListProcessor runs on a listserver maintained at New York University.
  • The listserver has two addresses. The first is:

    • listproc@lists.nyu.edu

    This address is used to send commands to the server software requesting automated functions. These commands allow you to subscribe, unsubscribe, review the lists available on this server, get information about a specific lists, and get various types of information.

    The second listserver address is:

    central-banks@lists.nyu.edu

    This address is for posting messages to the Bulletin. Any posted message will be redistributed automatically, in digest form, to all subscribers. In other words, the listserver will compile messages and distribute them in compiled form. When you post messages to the list, please give an indication of the contents in the subject line of your e-mail message. The subject lines are compiled into a table of contents.

    Please feel free to participate actively in the discussions on the Bulletin. If you encounter any problems, please contact the list owners at the Center for the Study of Central Banks.
