About the Conference

Conference on Global Human Resources:
“A Transactional Perspective”
Villa La Pietra, NYU’s International Conference & Events Center, Florence, Italy
November 15-18, 2005

The Center for Labor and Employment Law is sponsoring a special conference on “Global Human Resources: A Transactional Perspective” to be held at the beautiful Villa La Pietra in Florence, Italy, on November 15-18, 2005. We are assembling a program that brings together the leading global HR executives and labor and employment lawyers from major multinational corporations and law firms for the purpose of sharing know-how and experiences to help meet the challenges of doing business in a global economy.

The anticipated audience for the conference includes 40-50 senior HR executives and employment lawyers from leading multinational companies and law firms. Ninety minute interactive presentations by leading experts on subtopics will be given with emphasis on interaction with conference attendees. As you can see from the enclosed agenda, the emphasis throughout is on the practical and interactive. The substantive business of the conference will focus on five areas of inquiry: (1) tracking an employment case through different systems, (2) cross-border transfer of executives, (3) mergers and acquisitions and their cross-border implications, (4) drafting and implementing policies for multinationals, (5) securing the facility and its people – the global challenge. We close with a plenary discussion.

The conference will be held at La Pietra, New York University’s storied 57-acre estate nestled in the hills of Florence, the ideal setting for national and international meetings, dialogues, symposiums and corporate events. Art, nature and technology come together to infuse the conference center with a unique blend of beauty, serenity and security. La Pietra continues to host numerous academic, cultural and corporate activities, welcoming world leaders, government officials, business executives, scholars and celebrities.
