Executive Director

Anne Hassett became the executive director of the NYU Law Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy in 2015, following a distinguished career in complex civil litigation, in particular intellectual property litigation.  Hassett has been a litigator for 30 years, most recently as a senior partner at Goodwin Procter in its patent litigation practice. She also practiced IP law at Kirkland & Ellis and Fish & Neave. Hassett received her BS in chemistry (summa cum laude) from the State University of New York at Albany, MA in chemistry from Harvard University, and JD (cum laude) from Hastings College of the Law, University of California, where she was the editor-in-chief of the Hastings Law Journal and a Tony Patino Fellow. Hassett is currently first vice president of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and a member of the Conner Inn of Court. Hassett also has many years of federal jury trial experience as an Assistant Federal Defender in Boston, MA. In addition to her executive leadership of the Engelberg Center, Hassett is also a research fellow at NYU School of Law and interested in exploring ways to diversify the innovation community. Hassett is of counsel to Amster, Rothstein & Ebenstein.
